This Earth Day we’re celebrating our wonderful planet and welcoming Dr Kevin Pogue to the resort to give a presentation on the geology of our local landscape and answer any questions you have about Washington State vineyards and wines.

About Dr Pogue

Dr Kevin Pogue is a professor of Geology at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. He is a leading global expert on terroir for winegrape production and works as both an academic geologist and a consultant for grape farmers and land investors. In 2018, he was the recipient of the Walter Clore Honorarium from the Washington State Wine Commission, for his service as an ambassador, mentor, and champion of Washington Wines.

He was also featured in The New York Times, which said that Dr Pogue’s work “signals the increasing maturity and seriousness of the Washington wine industry”. You can read the full article here. Originally from Kentucky, he received a B.S. in Geology from the University of Kentucky before gaining an M.S. and doctorate in Geology from Idaho State University and Oregon State University, respectively.

The Event

Starting at 7pm with a presentation, the event will be the perfect opportunity to learn more about Washington’s landscape and geology in general. You’ll also be able to ask Dr Pogue any questions, and there will be wine and light bites served afterwards.

If you’d like to arrive before 7pm, we’ll be hosting Hans Joseph Hessburg for some live cello in the Lobby from 4:30pm-7pm too.

The event will be $20 per adult to attend, sign up now to secure your spot.

We hope to see you there!
